There are several entrances to the Gila Trail head, but to get to these particular petroglyphs quickly, we entered the trail at the second Gold Diamond Ranch entrance (going north on Hwy. 18) and followed the dirt road to the end (about 1/4 mile) and then parked at the trail head entrance.
From there, we walked and entered The Gila trail head looking west towards Snow Canyon State Park. It was about 1/2 mile hike from where we parked our car to get down to the lava wall loaded with the beautiful, ancient drawings.
Going on a little bit further was a small slot canyon with even more of the incredible Indian drawings.

| And so if you only have about an hour to spend and want a hike where you'll see beautiful desert flowers and Anasazi Petroglyphs and also be fairly close to town, we think this one is a great choice! |
